Repeat, Reveal, React: Identities in Flux, Selections from the Grinnell College Art Collection

Jan 29- March 21, 2010
Repetition

During Fall semester 2009, the students in the Department of Art's triennial exhibition seminar will consider the nature of repetition in art. Prevalent in the digital world, repetition also characterizes work in other cultures and eras. Is repetition an aesthetic or political strategy? Is it a response to culture or technology? Drawing from works in the Grinnell College Art Collection, Professor Jenny Anger's students will curate an exhibition and write a catalogue that explores these and related questions in a range of historical contexts.
