We are looking for a cook who is available to work part time from 11:30am -7pm or 3pm -7pm for a day or night shift. Apply today to join our outstanding team!

  1. Prepares and serves all meals for assigned shifts including special events.
  2. Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place.
  3. Assists the Food & Beverage Service Director in assigned responsibilities or acts as Food & Beverage Service Director as assigned.
  4. Check menus daily for any required advance preparation. Notes substitutions on the posted menu and maintains various recipes in absence of Food & Beverage Service Director.
  5. Prepares food using proper food handling and food safety techniques according to established policies and regulations. Maintains the proper temperature of food during preparation and serving.
  6. Responsible for portion control, following the menus and time schedules and plate presentation for each meal. Uses proper tasting techniques to insure quality taste and palatability prior to serving.
  7. Prepare nourishments as requested.
  8. Uses food, supplies and equipment in an efficient and economic manner to prevent waste.
  9. Assist in serving meals and tray preparation for residents as required.
  10. Assist in removing dishes and trays from dining room.


1.  General Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Good health/health screening for communicable disease within 90 days prior to employment
  • Maturity and ability to accept responsibility and guidance from authority
  • Ability to organize and follow directions
  • Desire to work with elderly people
  • Ability to develop good interpersonal relationships with both clients and their families
  • Represents the community in the community

2.  Specific requirements as required by state regulations

3.  Facility-approved orientation training of assigned topics at assigned time lines of seven (7) days, thirty (30) days, three (3) months, and one-hundred and eighty (180) days as according to "Orientation Checklist'.

  • Other topics as determined by individual community director
  • Criminal records check 

4.  Working Conditions - Environmental:

  • Work in a clean, well-lighted, heated and ventilated kitchen area
  • Subject to extreme temperature changes, i.e. heat/steam from cooking, cold from freezer
  • Subject to exposure to hazardous chemicals or infectious substances
  • Possibility of injury (cuts, bruises, burns) from operation of tools and equipment.
  • Subject to possible injury from irrational clients 

5.  Working Conditions - Physical:

  • Standing and walking for long periods of time
  • Frequent turning, stooping, bending, stretching
  • Lifts food/supplies of various weights up to and including 50 Ibs.
  • Sweeps and mops floors
  • Full range of motion and agility, finger and hand dexterity, eye/hand coordination ­operates tools and equipment
  • Speaks, reads, and understands English
  • Adheres to uniform policy and wears a hair restraint when in kitchen area
