The Digital Liberal Arts Specialist works with faculty and students to integrate digital methods, applications, and media with
liberal arts scholarship and teaching in a highly selective undergraduate residential college. Responsibilities include the
promotion of faculty and student experimentation and creativity with digital technologies in an inquiry-based active learning
curriculum, as well as support for student and faculty research. The specialist reports to the Director of Academic
Technology as part of a team that works collaboratively within the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment and with
faculty and staff colleagues in the College Libraries, Information Technology Services, the Data Analysis and Social Inquiry
Lab, and other academic support units.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a liberal arts field.
  • Demonstrated experience with technologies, applications, and practices commonly used in higher education and the digital liberal arts/humanities, such as digital media production and editing, digital mapping and geospatial applications, text mining and analysis, and the development of websites for academic projects.
  • Basic familiarity with trends and topics in pedagogy, instructional design, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Skills in project management and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in a liberal arts field.
  • Teaching experience in higher education, preferably in a liberal art context.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent background in digital studies, instructional technology, or related field.
  • Participation in professional communities of inquiry and practice in digital studies, academic technology, or digital pedagogy and design.
