Description

The purpose of the position is to assist in the direction and administration of the organization’s financial operations. Manages various team members, as delegated department leader(s). Maintains accurate and timely reporting of financial information to stakeholders.

 

What You Will Do

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Administrative/Financial

  • Assists in the preparation of periodic reports such as the financial statements, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Statement of Cash Flows
  • Responsible for the month-end financial statement close process
  • Maintains the integrity of the general ledger and records journal entries
  • Timely preparation and review of monthly/quarterly/annual account reconciliations
  • Protects company, employees, and customers by keeping information confidential

Operational

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including but not limited to the Staff and Senior Accountants as well as the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams
  • Keeps up to date on accounting pronouncements as well as regulatory changes that could affect the financial statements
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and other related regulatory requirements
  • Works with other departments within the business to ensure the proper accounting treatment for various operational issues and transactions
  • Responds to requests from individuals within and outside of the organization
  • Identifies and implements operational efficiency of existing processes and procedures
  • Assists with the coordination and provides documents for auditors

Leadership

  • Takes a strong leadership role within the Accounting Department to ensure the entire functional team records accounting transactions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Leads and represents the Accounting Department in meetings with others
  • Ensures department and companywide initiatives are tracking as planned and implemented within budgeted time
  • Provides coaching and mentors team, and works one-on-one with team members as needed in order to advance individual careers and goals

Strategic

  • Assists the department leaders to identify, implement, and measure department metrics
  • Assists with the budgeting and forecasting processes within the organization
  • Analyzes the budget-to-actuals to identify areas of improvement and works with departmental leaders to implement strategies to address results of the analysis

 

Requirements

What You Will Need

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • CPA license preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 7-10 years of related accounting experience required
  • Public accounting experience or experience in a faced-paced environment
  • Demonstrates ability to manage a large, dynamic team
  • Background in creating and understanding financial statements
  • Experience with accounting for multiple legal entities

Knowledge & Skills

  • High level of ethics and confidentiality

  • Experience with implementing and/or working with Infor suite of ERP products
  • Analytical mindset and critical thinker

  • Relevant work in the retail, manufacturing, or distribution industry preferred but not required

Physical Demands

Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
