LINK Grinnell ASSISTANT DIRECTOR:  

LINK Grinnell offers high quality youth programming throughout the year including an after-school program, care on no school days, one-to-one mentoring, and a summer program. Our organization is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic self-starter who is highly organized and detail-oriented to serve as an Assistant Director for these programs for youth ages 5-12 in Grinnell. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

The assistant director of the organization must have an understanding of child development and education, administration, and effective communication skills in order to: 

  • Assist with the on-site daily operations and management of LINK Grinnell programming. Regular duties include coordinating the logistics of the program(s) and implementation of safe, developmentally appropriate programming for children. 

  • Work to ensure overall success of the organization, which is likely to include communicating with families, ensuring financial sustainability, and representing the organization at public events. 

  • Provide leadership and supervision to after-school staff and children at all times; serving as a positive  role model and ensuring the health and safety of program participants. 

Skill Requirements and Essential Qualities: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively to coordinate program operations and supervise staff 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

  • Critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously with little or no supervision

 

Employment Standards:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a child-related field with some experience(preferred)

  • OR Associate Degree in child-related field (or CDA) with 3+ years of experience

  • 3-5 years related program management and experience (some experience required)

  • 3-5 years supervisory experience (preferred)


Hours/Compensation:​ This is a salaried, exempt position. Depending on responsibilities, the position is anticipated to require between 35 and 40 hours per week but this may be negotiated for the ideal candidate. Compensation is commensurate based on experience and/or education.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment:

  • Position requires a criminal background and abuse registry check, including fingerprint verification. 

  • Must meet the state licensing requirements of 75 points obtained through a combination of education, experience, and child development-related training. 

  • Must complete CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions, Mandatory Abuse Training program and Essentials Child Care Preservice program once hired.
