Description

System Support Engineers are assigned a primary role and share responsibility for the administration of department-specific non-enterprise services.
 

The Service Management Systems Support Engineer is responsible for the management of technical systems that support IT processes such as incidents, service requests and change management. This position coordinates with other members of User Services and all ITS teams to ensure high quality response to incidents and service requests. This position is an important component of ITS operations, often working in partnership with the Technology Services Desk, Classroom Technology, Core Services, Network Services, Information Security, and Enterprise Systems teams.

 

Selected candidate must successfully pass a background check prior to first day of employment.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree [Candidates who have not attained a four-year degree may substitute four years of professional experience.]
  • At least 5 years experience working with a service management platform.
  • System administrator (back end) experience managing a service management (or similar) platform.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a service management platform administrator.
  • ITIL Certification (v3 Foundation or v4 Foundation).
  • Experience working in an information technology environment within a higher education setting.
  • Experience using one or more of the following scripting languages: batch, shell, Python or other programming languages such as C, C#, Java, or Ruby.
