The Internal Auditor plays a critical role in executing comprehensive internal audits through effectively working with others to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data. Assist with establishing enterprise policies and procedures, structure and processes that ensure efficient and compliant operations. These audits will include internal control, financial, operational, compliance, consulting, fraud investigation and IT systems reviews to ensure the adequacy, efficiency, and application of internal operational and departmental controls as well as adherence and compliance to existing policies. In addition, this role will assist with risk management of insurance.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform audit procedures, including conducting interviews, analyze audit evidence, identify and define issues, and document client processes and procedures, under the direction of the Project Lead.
  • Identify and communicate audit findings with key business partners
  • Support creation of audit reports and closing meeting materials and assist with project wrap-up
  • As assigned, follow up on audit issue progress.
  • Test, create & save sufficient validation testing details.
  • Document results per IA follow up requirements.
  • Coordinate / communicate status within IA and with the business.
  • Support and perform compliance testing
  • Present findings to upper management in the form of reports and presentations

Education and Experience

  • Three plus years of relevant audit experience, in either public or private environment
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Understanding of audit concepts and technical accounting guidelines
  • Fundamental knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)


Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to interact with senior management and communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of auditing processes
  • Knowledge of internal controls
  • Ability to perform risk analysis
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the company

Physical Demands

Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
