Applications are now available for 20 Summer Learning AmeriCorps VISTA service member positions. AmeriCorps members will serve directly with children by leading activities focused on literacy, play, art, and provide individual, small group, and large group learning opportunities. Member responsibilities include supervising, monitoring, and ensuring the safety of children within the programs.

Applications will be accepted February 15, 2023, through Friday, April 14, 2023. Interviews scheduled to begin in April.

Eligibility:

Be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of service
Have a high school diploma or its equivalent, or be in the process of obtaining one
Be a citizen, national or lawful permanent resident alien of the United State
Pass all required National Service Criminal History Checks conducted by AmeriCorps VISTA Program

Requirements

AmeriCorps team members are eligible for the following service benefits:

Living allowance. Members will receive a living allowance of $3,037.86 (9-week term) or $3,375.40 (10-week term).
Education Award. Upon successful completion of service, service members are eligible for an education award. The award benefit is $1,459.26. Click on this link: Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for more information. Instead of the Education Award, members may elect to receive a post-service stipend (ranging from $311 to $345 depending on term length.
Loan Forbearance. Qualified student loans are eligible for forbearance during AmeriCorps terms and many members qualify for income-based deferment of their student loans. (For more information on deferment/forbearance, visit Student Aid Loan Deferment.)
