The Grant Accountant provides primary accounting functions for grants including administration, compliance, and financial reporting. This position works collaboratively with the Corporate Foundation and Government Relations Office and principal investigators regarding the financial administration of federal and private grants.  In partnership with Development and Alumni Relations, this position works with budget managers regarding use of restricted funds.  As a member of the accounting department, provide general accounting support and assistance with specials projects or other duties as assigned.



  • Manage all financial aspects of federal and private grants from proposal to closeout including reporting, expense approval, time and effort documentation, requesting funds, budget monitoring and sub-recipient monitoring.
  • Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with institutional policies, agency terms and conditions and OMB uniform guidance. 
  • Assist with creation of policies and procedures to maintain compliance in all areas of grant administration. 
  • Assist with the accounting, reconciling and reporting of all restricted funds.  
  • Reconcile federal student assistance programs and request funds in coordination with the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Prepare financial and audit reports. 
  • General accounting support and other special projects and duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
  • Minimum of Three years experience
  • Analyze and interpret policies, terms and conditions, regulations; ability to think conceptually
  • Planning and organizing skills; strong attention to detail 
  • Strong information management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents
  • Independent self-starter with developed problem solving skills
  • Recognizes  the value of teamwork
  • Champions diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • BA in Accounting
  • CFRA or CRA 
  • Prior higher education or nonprofit experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
