As Logistics Manager, you’ll be able to leverage your strong background in data collection and analysis with your experience in logistics/transportation, to execute effective contract negotiation and positively impact the largest budgeted line item for our direct and wholesale businesses. Reporting to the Chief Supply Chain Officer, you will own carrier relations and ultimately improve the relationship between freight spent and collected.

What You Will Do

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with Merchant, Procurement, Sales, and Product team functional managers, heavily focused on products shipped, to optimize the supply chain through a deep understanding of current and future business needs
  • Researches, creates cost estimates and negotiates transportation options and contracts
  • Compiles and audits freight contracts/transportation data
  • Works with vendors, warehouses, freight brokers, and freight forwarders to reduce transportation times, order fulfillment time, receiving time, returns and damages
  • Resolves issues regarding claims, invoices, vendor recovery or other areas impacting financial and operational performance
  • Owns continuous improvement for all transportation modes, driving innovation initiatives and measuring the impact of those solutions within logistics
  • Assesses transportation related supply chain data with a continuous improvement mindset, uncovering cost savings and process improvement opportunities
  • Establishes strong contingency network of carriers
  • Interprets laws, rules and regulations regarding shipping, and works closely with customers/vendors and government agencies to support global trade (import and export) compliance

 

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain management or related field required
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in logistics and distribution/transportation
  • Experienced developing strong relationships with carriers and negotiating transportation contracts
  • Experienced with data collection and spend analysis

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong analytical, transportation, supply chain and business acumen
  • Strong understanding of small parcel and freight contracts
  • Extensive product knowledge specific to the firearms and outdoor industry highly preferred
  • Knowledge of government regulatory compliance related to firearms industry preferred
  • Advanced ability to build relationships internally and externally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability advising senior leadership
  • Ability to influence and sell process improvement initiatives across the organization
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement when representing the company in supply chain/logistics decisions

 

Physical Demands

Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
