Description

The Digital Library Services Specialist will oversee and coordinate the services of Burling Library’s digital scholarship studio in support of faculty, staff, and student digital project work. The digital scholarship studio will provide equipment and support for digitization, audio-visual media production, and other humanistic digital methods. This position will have primary responsibility for maintenance and basic support for studio equipment and software, including creating and maintaining accessible documentation for entry-level users. In collaboration with librarians and DLAC staff, the Specialist will develop, coordinate, and promote programming for the digital scholarship studio. Duties may include supervision of student employees engaged in digital project work and peer mentoring, documentation of project workflows, space usage assessment, and digital project support tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Create and maintain documentation for entry-level users of digitization and audio-visual media production equipment.
  • Perform regular inventory and maintenance checks for supported equipment.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for questions about space, equipment, and software usage.
  • Provide in-person and virtual assistance with equipment usage and project tasks.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and software issues.
  • Work closely with the special collections and digital scholarship teams on digitization, the development of digital collections, and digital exhibit projects related to library collections.
  • Support pedagogical and research applications of digital scholarship methods and tools as assigned.
  • Collaborate on the coordination and promotion of studio programming.
  • Develop and document digital project task workflows.
  • Assist with supervision of student staff.

 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
  • One year or more relevant experience

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and efficiently manage daily work demands with strong attention to detail
  • Independent self-starter with developed problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively utilizing verbal and written modes of communications
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Two years or more relevant experience
