POSITION SUMMARY

Are you passionate about helping the next generation of STEM leaders shape their future? Do you have a knack for guiding students through pivotal career decisions? Join us as a STEM Career Adviser and make a lasting impact on talented students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).


In this dynamic, remote, part-time, 12-month role, you will provide career guidance, support, and mentorship to undergraduate students and early career alumni, helping them navigate their academic and professional journeys. If you are a proactive communicator and enjoy fostering growth in diverse student communities, this position is for you!


Possibility for remote work, candidate must reside in the United States, some state restrictions may apply.

Temporary, 12 month, 20 hours/week, work a max of 1000 hours

Beginning Range: $22 – 25/hour


Key Responsibilities

  • Empower Students to Succeed: Provide virtual one-on-one career advising to students and alumni, helping them identify their strengths, reflect on their experiences, and explore career paths in STEM fields.
  • Be a Strategic Career Partner: Help students develop strategic career plans, focusing on transferable skills, internship opportunities, and post-graduation goals.
  • Deliver Practical Career Guidance: Offer advice on writing compelling resumes, cover letters, and other job search documents, preparing for interviews, and negotiating job offers. Guide students through internship and job search strategies, as well as graduate school applications.
  • Mentor Future STEM Leaders: Supervise and mentor students participating in the College’s summer internship program, creating a supportive environment for growth.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a STEM field
  • 1+ year of experience in a STEM field, career advising, or related area.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong knowledge of internship/job searches and graduate school applications in STEM.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field
  • Prior success in remote advising roles.
