A Physician, a Scholar, and an Inventor Walk into a Library: the Collectors Behind Grinnell College's Rare Book Collection
The rare book collection held in the Grinnell College Libraries has been over 150 years in the making and has been built through both strategic purchases and generous donations. In this lecture by Chris Jones, Associate Professor and Special Collections Librarian and Archivist of the College, learn about the three fascinating men who originally collected the books that would become the core of the rare book collection. Their treasures include a copy of Shakespeare's Second Folio, printed books dating back to the 1470s, and manuscript books dating to the 14th century.
