Schedule:

  • June 15: Grinnell Community Band | Concert Band
    • A program of the Grinnell Area Arts Council since 2010, the Grinnell Municipal Band is a longstanding staple of the Grinnell music community. The current Community Band is under the direction of Levi Dressler. They perform a variety of marches, overtures, and showtunes. The best part? Anyone can join! Get in touch with us at info@grinnellarts.org if you’re interested in performing with the band this summer. Read more about the band HERE!
  • June 22: Grinnell Community Band | Concert Ban
  • June 29: Grinnell Community Band | Concert Band
  • July 6: Turlach Ur Pipe Band (Scottish Bagpipe & Drum)
    • A perennial Music in the Park favorite, Grinnell’s own bagpipe and drum ensemble has won dozens of awards, both at home and abroad. Directed by Rob and Nancy Clower, Turlach Ur is truly an all-ages group, with members ranging from 10 - 70 years-old, including 11 players aged 17 or younger. They perform mostly traditional Scottish music, but are also known for their eclectic shows that incorporate bluegrass, folk, and other popular music samples. Read more HERE.
  • July 13: Jake Simon (country)
    • "Small-town road warrior" Jake Simon grew up in Tama, IA, graduated from Grinnell High School, and released his first song "Chasing the Wind" at age 18. His debut single to country radio and title track to his debut album "I Still Think About You" was a Top 40 single on the Music Row Country Breakout chart. He’s opened for some of country music’s hottest acts and recently released two new singles. Visit his website.
  • July 20: The Feralings (Americana/Roots)
    • Ralph Waldo Emerson. Diesel. Morning glories. AM radio. These all influence Iowa acoustic roots trio The Feralings, based in Iowa City, as do the gently sloping landscapes of the Iowa countryside and the sound of tornado sirens squealing and the rumble of trucks on I-80. Their debut EP, titled simply “The Feralings”, was recorded over the course of several years, as the band navigated parenthood, life changes, and personal struggles, and it showcases the power and intimacy of the band’s enthralling live performances. The band is currently in the process of recording their long-awaited follow-up album. Visit their website.
  • July 27: NO MUSIC IN THE PARK
  • August 3: Barefoot Becky & the Ivanhoe Dutchmen
    • A perennial Music in the Park favorite, Barefoot Becky & the Ivanhoe Dutchmen play a mix of German, Czech & Slovenian style polkas and waltzes, with a variety of other musical styles thrown in for good measure. The band is based in Mt. Vernon, IA, and every summer, they throw the “Beckster Fest” in Amana, IA. Read more at their website.
