Drake Community Library is thrilled to announce an author event featuring acclaimed poet and essayist Diana Goetsch on July 19th, 2023. The event will take place at 7:30 pm in the Community Room of Drake Community Library.

Diana Goetsch, known for her exceptional literary work, will present her highly praised memoir, "This Body I Wore," as part of her Red State Library Tour. The tour aims to support libraries and minorities who have been targeted by book bans. "This Body I Wore" has been hailed as "achingly beautiful" by The New York Times Book Review, capturing the essence of the late 20th-century trans communities and shedding light on today's ongoing struggle for trans equality.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Diana Goetsch during a reading and talk session, where she will share excerpts from her memoir. Following the reading, a Q&A discussion will allow participants to delve deeper into the themes and issues explored in the book.

The author event at Drake Community Library promises to be an insightful and empowering experience, celebrating diversity, literature, and the importance of preserving intellectual freedom. Starting from July 1st, the library will provide a limited quantity of free copies on a first-come, first-served basis. This initiative aims to foster a shared experience of intellectual and community engagement.

Admission to the author event is free, and all members of the community are welcome. Copies of "This Body I Wore" will be available for purchase at the event.
