Location Description:Join us in the Marion Austin Jones Classroom at the Grinnell School of Music. The building, located at 720 5th Avenue, is fully accessible. Event Description:A low-pressure evening of music-making! This event is for adults (18+), and no experience is necessary. Each session features a different hit song from the last 50+ years of pop music. In honor of Veteran's Day and in hope for resolution to conflicts around the world, November's song will be John Lennon's "Imagine". You don't need to know how to read music, and whether you know the tune or not, our instructors will guide you through learning the melody and harmony parts step-by-step. By the end of the night, we’ll sing the full song together in 2- or 3-part harmony. Group singing has been shown to boost mood, reduce stress, and create a sense of belonging—plus, it’s just plain fun. Pop-Up Choir is a great way to connect with others, build confidence, and experience the joy of shared musical expression. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and complimentary snacks and beverages. This event is one of our drop-in programs, designed for those who may be unable to commit to regular classes but who want to be part of a musical community. The suggested participation fee is $15 per event, $50/month, or pay-what-you-can. A $50/month lets you attend all the programs you’d like, and help support the Grinnell School of Music!
