Event Description:2025 City/School ElectionThe 2025 City/School Election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Voters will vote for candidates for Mayor, council seats in Wards 1, 3, and 4, and one at-large councilor. The ballot will also include the renewal of the Local Option Sales Tax. Important dates for the 2025 election (Poweshiek County Auditor) City ElectionsRegular city elections are held every two years in the odd-numbered years. City Clerk ResponsibilitiesThe city clerk provides election materials to residents wishing to run for mayor or city council. Election materials can be picked up at City Hall, 520 4th Ave, or obtained from the Iowa Secretary of State website. Candidates file completed nomination papers at City Hall. Candidate InformationCandidates running for wards 1, 2, 3, or 4 must have signatures* from petitioners, who are residents of the ward they are running in and qualified to register to vote in Iowa. Candidates for at-large seats or for the mayor seat must simply have signatures* from petitioners who are residents of the City of Grinnell and qualified to register to vote in Iowa. (*Check with the city clerk's office for number of signatures required.)
