Description

As a Staff Accountant at Grinnell, you will play a valuable role in the financial operations of the College which supports our campus community and mission.


In This Role, You Will:

  • Account for restricted funds: Work collaboratively with Development & Alumni Relations and the Office of Corporate, Foundation and Government Relations to provide accounting support for restricted gifts and grants.
  • Complete general accounting functions and financial reporting: Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and audit workpapers; forecast use of restricted funds.
  • Collaborate with campus partners: Work with budget managers to provide information and available balances of restricted funds.  Provide information as needed to support donor stewardship.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Able to think conceptually
  • Good organizational and planning skills; ability to meet deadlines 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents
  • Independent self-starter with developed critical thinking skills 
  • Capability to analyze and interpret policies, terms and conditions, regulations
  • Ability to work collaboratively and recognizes the value of teamwork
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications    

  • BA in accounting, finance, or another business degree
  • Prior higher education or nonprofit experience
