St. Mary Catholic Church is hosting a food pantry sculpture contest during Jingle Bell Holiday (November 22nd) to benefit MICA food pantry here in Grinnell. Team compete to build the best sculpture made from non-perishable items and money generated during the event will go to MICA to support the Grinnell Community. Two awards are possible: 1. a judge from MICA chooses one winner and 2. Visitors vote with change to select the Popular Vote winner. This event is open to the public and people are enccouraged to register as a team or stop by and visit during JBH. Sculptures must be free standing and fit within a 7x7 foot floor space. The sculpture may not lean agains walls. The materials may consist of unopened and unused items on the "Allowable Materials List" (below). Teams may NOT use glass containers, tape, glue, string, or wood in the construction.
Food Items: Beans, dry or canned, boxed food ( e.g., potatoes, cereal), baby food, canned fruit, vegetables, tuna, or meat, ground coffee, flour, granola bars, jelly, macaroni and cheese, oatmeal, pancake mix, pasta, peanut butter, ramen, rice soup, sugar, syrup
