POSITION SUMMARY

Under general direction, Academic Assistant 1 provides faculty with comprehensive administrative and academic support. This role involves performing advanced, diverse, and confidential administrative duties requiring extensive experience, skill, and knowledge of organizational policies and practices. The Academic Assistant 1 manages programs, projects, and processes specific to the departments served, exercising independent judgment and basic reasoning skills.

This position requires frequent interaction with internal and external contacts, often involving non-routine matters that demand a high degree of tact, diplomacy, and discretion.

 

This is a full-time role operating 11 months per year.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • One year or more of experience
  • Effective communicator across diverse constituencies using various modes of communication.
  • Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to independently manage workloads, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and minimal supervision required.
  • Skilled in composition, editing, and proofreading with an emphasis on grammar and punctuation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Office Specialist Certification in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint preferred.
