Biggest/Weirdest/Funnest Vegetable & Fruit Competition

Overview

Join the Grinnell Farmers Market, presented by Grinnell Mutual, for their second year hosting the biggest, weirdest, and funnest vegetable competition! In honor of National Farmers Market Week, August 2-8, 2026, this competition helps highlight the vital role farmers markets play in our nation’s food system. 

Community members are encouraged to submit their own vegetables and fruit that fit under the three categories: weirdest shaped, largest, and funniest looking produce. At the Market, vote your favorite produce item in each category and the winner gets a prize!

Line up begins at 2:30 PM, voting opens at 3:15 PM, & winners announced at 5:30 PM. Competition & voting open to the general public. Savor the season!
