Overview

Join us for the opening celebration of “I Object” at Drake Community Library on Monday, April 27, from 4:30–6 PM. Light refreshments will be served. All from the community are welcome, including families and children (the exhibit is designed with all ages in mind). Created by students in Professor Lara Janson’s Advanced Gender Studies Seminar in the Grinnell College Sociology Department, this art exhibition explores how everyday objects such as toys, clothing, tools, and household spaces quietly teach ideas about masculinity and femininity. The exhibition invites viewers to look again at familiar things and imagine what becomes possible when gendered rules are challenged.
