Overview
Grinnell College alum David DeYoung ’86 will read from his poetry, including selections from his recent book The Unbeatable Slow Machine. Moving between the Midwest and Finland, his work reflects on family, memory, science, and time, offering a thoughtful meditation on finding meaning in everyday moments.
David de Young is the author of “A Flash of Insight and Other Poems” (2017). He holds an MFA from NYU, and his poems have appeared in Narrative Magazine. Anthropocene Journal, Scribeworth, Deep Overstock, Consilience, and elsewhere.
He received the Selden L. Whitcomb Prize in Poetry at Grinnell College and is the founder of HowWasTheShow.com and NordicMoonPress. He lives in Finland with his wife, three children, and 1,200 vinyl records.
