Pop-Up Choir

Overview

A low-pressure evening of music-making! This event is for adults (18+); no experience is necessary. Each session features a different hit song from the last 50+ years of pop music. Our first event of the new year features John Lennon's beautiful and timeless Imagine.

Instructors will guide singers in learning the melody and harmony parts step-by-step. By the end of the night, sing the full song together in 2- or 3-part harmony. Pop-Up Choir is a great way to connect with others, build confidence, and experience the joy of shared musical expression. Group singing has been shown to boost mood, reduce stress, and create a sense of belonging—plus, it’s just plain fun! Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and complimentary snacks and beverages.

This event is one of our drop-in programs, designed for those who may be unable to commit to regular classes but who want to be part of a musical community. The suggested participation fee is $15 per event, $50/month, or pay-what-you-can. $50/month allows for access to all programs and helps support the Grinnell School of Music!
