Welcome to Holidays in Grinnell! Holidays in Grinnell, hosted by the Grinnell Area Chamber of Commerce, is a series of events scattered throughout the holiday season. Stop & Shop on Friday, December 19!
Join us for our Stop & Shop event series, where businesses host open houses and hot beverages for attendees to enjoy! On Stop & Shop days, our participating businesses will host extended retail hours beginning at 5 PM. Use our map or list of Stop & Shop participants to use on Friday, December 19!

Solve the Stop & Shop Bingo for five entries into the Grinnell Chamber's giveaway baskets at the end of the holiday season!
Suggested itinerary for Stop and Shop on Friday, Dec. 19:

Visit the local Artist Market at the Grinnell Area Arts Council before Stop & Shop (open 11 AM-5 PM).

Grab a quick bite at a local restaurant to prep for walking around town! Pagliali’s or Hometown Heroes, anyone?

Stop at our local downtown businesses for our Shop and Stop series. Begin with stores open until 7 PM (like Anna Kayte’s and Brown’s Shoe Fit Co.) and enjoy hot drinks at participating stores!

Enjoy a free tarot card reading at Homeopathic Remedy Apothecary before 8 PM.

Complete the Stop & Shop Bingo.

Finish the evening with drinks at the Grinnell Craft Brewhouse for Karaoke Night that begins at 8 PM. Or go straight to bed (no judgment here!) to prepare for a day of activities on Saturday morning!
Santa & Mrs. Claus
Ho-ho-ho! Join us for a photo opportunity with Santa & Mrs. Claus at the Strand Theatre on December 18, 4-7 PM! This is a classic family event — plus, stroll around downtown Grinnell afterwards and enjoy our Stop & Shop series that same night!
Central Park Decorations
Our Central Park has been glamorized to include dazzling pathway arcs, fun photo opportunities, and lighted displays! Visit the park between 4:45 PM and 11 PM. Decorations will remain through December 31, 2025. Taking some photos? Snap one with our snowmen, elves, candy canes, and more!
