Veterans Memorial Monument Dedication

Central Park

Overview

Join as the Veterans Memorial Monument is officially dedicated during this ceremony. Remarks will begin at 7 PM, followed the playing of the National Anthem and a concert from band, Iowa Brass.

Since 1959, the northwest corner of Central Park has served as a space to honor past, present, and future veterans. The new tribute features a bold, enduring monument that honors the past and inspires future generations.

Designed by 2022 Iowa Artist Fellow Joe Tuggle Lacina, the Grinnell Veterans Monument is a 42-foot-tall steel sculpture in the shape of an unfurling American flag. The monument is lit from within and includes a walk-in space for reflection and remembrance.

Community members and visitors are encouraged to attend the official dedication on Saturday, July 4, beginning at 7 PM.
