Overview

Learn how to support Grinnell during a disaster when emergencies happen, our community often sees an outpouring of spontaneous volunteers who want to help. A Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) is a temporary location where these volunteers are safely registered, organized, trained, and deployed so they can support response efforts without overwhelming them. Join us for VRC training at the Grinnell College HSSC Room A1231 to learn:

  • The purpose and roles of a VRC
  • How volunteers move through the registration and assignment process
  • Safety and liability considerations Documentation and tracking procedures
  • How volunteers are demobilized after their work is complete
  • This training equips you with the skills to manage volunteers efficiently and support Grinnell’s disaster response in a meaningful way.
