Spring 2026 Exhibitions
Unruly Lines: The Art of Sonja Sekula
January 22 – May 31, 2026
This exhibition highlights the work of Swiss-born artist Sonja Sekula (1918–1963), whose career intersected with surrealism and abstract expressionism in Europe and North America. Exploring her artistic innovation alongside the personal challenges she faced, Unruly Lines offers a thoughtful and powerful perspective on an underrecognized figure in modern art. Co-curated by Grinnell College faculty, the exhibition will travel nationally later in 2026—making Grinnell an early stop for this significant scholarly show.
Opening reception: January 22, 4–6 p.m.
Rhizomatic Intimacies: Photography from the Collection of Keith Jantzen ’80 and Scott Beth

Curated by Grinnell College students, this exhibition explores themes of intimacy through portraiture, landscape, and the body. Featuring works by artists such as Diane Arbus, Robert Mapplethorpe, Johnnie Chatman, and Alfred Stieglitz, the exhibition reveals unexpected connections across photographic history.
