Overview

The Grinnell Historical Museum is a non-profit organization with a mission to tell the stories of Grinnell and the surrounding area through artifacts and photographs. We exist through the dedication of our Board of Directors, employees, and volunteers who provide tours, conduct research, create exhibits, host outreach programs, and share their impressive knowledge of Grinnell history with the community. We are funded thanks to the donations and support of the community and our members, along with support from the Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation. In 2025, the GHM moved daily operations out of the historic McMurry House and into 703 First Avenue, a newly renovated space purpose-built to include controlled storage for artifacts, rotating exhibits, classes, and community spaces. Visit our website for information on hours and admission.
