Start With Coffee
Ease into your day with a hot cup of joe and freshly made donuts at Grin City Bakery on Main Street.
Enjoy a Little Pampering
Book appointments ahead of time for Alta Bella by the Edge or B. Nicole Salon — they offer facials, massage, spray tans, nail services, and more. Coverge Chiropractic is also a great place to relax before you hit the town (they have an infrared sauna!).
Shop Until You Drop
What’s a girls’ day without a little shopping? Spend the morning exploring the downtown shops. You’ll often meet the store owners themselves – go ahead, get to know them. That’s one of the best things about a town like ours. Grinnell features a variety of shops to choose from, including Anna Kayte's Clothing Boutique, and Second Mile, as well as children's clothing stores like Lil' Miss Chic Children's Boutique and shoes for the whole family at Brown's Shoe Fit. Grab a book from Pioneer Bookshop or stop in for a gift at Stepping Stone & Eagle's Nest Christian Bookstore.
Stop by the Farmers Market (open May-Oct.)
Saturday morning brings dozens of vendors downtown to the Grinnell Farmers Market. From locally-grown fresh produce and baked goods to honey and jams to plants and flowers to hand-made crafts and more, there is never a shortage of things to buy and see!
Grab Lunch
Enjoy a light sandwich and salad at Prairie Canary on Main Street. They have a great selection of salad, burgers and sandwiches and seasonal offerings using local ingredients. Their grilled cheese and jam is a unique menu option to try!
Enjoy a Matinee
Give your feet a break and catch a matinee at the Strand 3 Theater. The renovated theater is a first-run tri-plex and is the perfect place for an afternoon movie and popcorn.
Find A Sweet Treat
While you're out and about, stop by Fareway on West Street. The grocery store sells freshly made baked goods and a selection of ice-cream and beverages. The historic building was once an auto showroom and has beautiful historic touches. If you're able to venture down the road during the summer, Dari Barn (open May through Oct.) is a great option to cool off. Their expansive ice cream menu has a flavor combination perfect for everyone!
Do a Little More Shopping
Pick up where you left off and finish your shopping. Hit up Loralei's Giftshoppe, Beckman Gallery & Gifts, or Witte's Home Decorating for an antique option. Consider picking up a dazzling bouquet, a house plant, or some delicious chocolate at Bates Flowers by Design. If you've got four-legged friends at home, Hair of the Dog has a great selection of pet supplies and toys!
End the Day With Dinner
Wrap up your day with a hot meal at a Grinnell staple, Pagliai's, a family-owned Italian restaurant serving pasta and pizza. If Mexican food is what you're looking for, visit the beautifully painted Los Girasoles Mexican Restaurant located just off downtown on Highway 146.
