Grinnell's annual kickoff to the holiday season is here! Celebrate Jingle Bell Holiday on Friday, November 21 from 5-8 PM in downtown Grinnell. Guests are invited to enjoy festivities and activities, including the lighting of the Central Park decorations, open houses with a variety of businesses, and horse-drawn carriage rides. Plus, receive double punches on the Grinnell Chamber's holiday punch cards on all purchases made throughout the evening. Bring your friends and family for some free holiday fun!

Schedule of Activities:

5-8 PM: Experience live singing, arts & crafts, & more during our downtown businesses’ open house (full list below).

5-8 PM: Winter Farmers Market is open at 914 Main Street! Shop for locally produced baked goods, honey, soaps, jewelry, & more! On Saturday, Nov. 22, continue shopping from 9:30 a.m.-noon.

5:15 PM: Join us for youth performances by Michelle's Dance Academy* & Steppin' Out Dance Studio*, followed by the Central Park Decoration Lighting.

5:30 PM: Visit Santa at Grinnell State Bank* (last admission at 7:30 PM) or hop on a carriage ride, beginning at the corner of 4th Ave. & Broad Street.


Grinnell College will provide a separate shuttle & carriage ride for students leaving from the JRC starting at 5 PM on November 21 and will drop off downtown through 8 PM. It takes approximately 30 minutes for the horse and carriage to complete a full lap. The College Shuttle picks up and drops off in the same locations and runs every 15 minutes through 8:30 PM.

 

Participants & Activities

Many businesses and organizations will be hosting kid activities, crafts, refreshments, open houses and other activities during the evening. More businesses and organizations (*denotes Grinnell Chamber of Commerce Member) participating in the evening festivities will be added in the coming weeks.

Bates Flowers by Design*: Any purchase of $25 and over qualifies to enter a drawing for a free bouquet. In-store promotions include 20% off all in-stock plants, pottery, baskets/covers, candles and home fragrance items (sales valid all day long)

Beckman Gallery & Gifts*: Beverages, snacks, and Christmas items for sale 

Bierman & Petig*: Hot chocolate and cookies

Brown’s Shoe Fit*: Fresh baked goods and live music from The Grasshoppers, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Comeback Cafe: Drinks available for purchase and discounts on apparel

Cory Hall Photography*: In collaboration with Cory Hall, a local photographer will take pictures with Santa at Grinnell State Bank

Dari Barn on the Moooove*: The Dari Barn trailer will be downtown near Central Park with BBQ pork sandwiches, mini donuts, and hot chocolate available for purchase 

Grinnell Area Arts Council*: Local Artist Market, open from 12-8 p.m., with live music from Too Many String Band. Plus, an Empty Bowls fundraiser to help support MICA (soup not included)

Grin City Bakery*: Assorted old-fashioned ring donuts available for purchase

Grinnell Craft Brewhouse*: Hot chocolate and apple cider, with an option to add a shot of Fireball or Ice 101 Peppermint Schnapps for $5

Grinnell Farm to Table*: Samples of hot cider and roasted chestnuts. Enjoy a silent auction for baked goods and a local food holiday box giveaway. Retail is also open for purchases

Grinnell College's Weingart Pavilion at Renfrow Hall*: Hosting the Grinnell School of Music, with tickets to The Nutcracker available to purchase. Plus, a photo opportunity with a ballet dancer from the upcoming performance

Grinnell School of Music*: Present at the Weingart Pavilion at Renfrow Hall (1033 Broad Street). Sing holiday carols with a live pianist and color-your-own ornament featuring the School of Music building mural

Grinnell State Bank*: Hosting Santa beginning at 5:30 p.m. (last admission at 7:30 p.m.)

Grinnell United Church of Christ*: Hosting Grinnell Children’s Choir who will perform in the sanctuary at 5:30 p.m.. Followed by family activities, festive treats, and Christmas crafts downstairs in Friendship Hall

Homeopathic Remedy Apothecary*: Samples of tea 

Hometown Heroes:*  Enjoy $4 spiced cider or $8 spiked spiced cider. Receive a $50 gift card for every $40 spent

Steppin' Out Dance Studio*: Following their performance in Central Park, join a ‘treat walk’ at their downtown studio (limit one treat per person)
