Event Description:

If it’s summer, it must be Thursday Music in the Park! Grab a bite from a Grinnell restaurant or at the Hy-Vee food truck at the park, bring your blankets and camp chairs, and join the Grinnell Area Arts Council in Grinnell’s Central Park at 7 PM on Thursday evenings for a mix of music from local and regional favorites!

  • July 4: Turlach Ur Pipe Band
    • ​(Grinnell), founded in 2007, is the largest pipe band in Iowa with over 30 band members. In 2016, Turlach Ur traveled to Glasgow, Scotland, for the Pipe Band World Championships. Come experience these authentic drum and bagpipe musicians! Read more HERE.
  • July 11: The Whiskey Fund
    • ​(Grinnell & Iowa City) covers rock and blues favorites, featuring seasoned Iowa musicians, including Grinnellian Jon Edwards.
  • July 18: The Johnny Burgin Band
    • ​(Chicago & California) plays coast-to-coast Chicago blues. Johnny has won numerous accolades, tours internationally and hosts the No Border Blues podcast.
  • July 25: Son Peruchos
    • ​(Des Moines) is a fusion of Andean and South American folk music utilizing traditional instruments such as the zampona, quena and charango. This musical group also integrates their traditional Andean sound with more modern Latin and Caribbean rhythms such as cumbia, bachata and rock en español. Catch them regularly at Noce Jazz Cabaret in Des Moines.
